A unique group of heroes will trade their stethoscopes for sneakers. They won’t be in a hospital or clinic, but on the scenic Isle of Palms Connector. The Charleston County Medical Society (CCMS) is proud to announce its participation in The Isle of Palms Connector Run & Walk for the Child, and our physicians are showing up in a powerful way.

This event is more than just a race; it’s a community-wide stand against child abuse. Join local physicians and CCMS members on Saturday, October 4, 2025 to walk the 5K route together, wearing their iconic white coats. Registration is open here.

More Than a Race: A Movement for Children

The Isle of Palms Connector Run & Walk for the Child has become a cornerstone event in our community, uniting thousands of people for a single, vital purpose. For over three decades, this event has raised crucial funds and awareness to combat child abuse and neglect. The numbers speak volumes about its impact. Over its history, the run has raised more than $1.24 million, with an impressive $146,000 generated in 2024 alone.

Every dollar raised goes directly to local organizations that provide essential services. These funds support prevention programs, educational initiatives, and direct assistance for children and families affected by abuse. When you participate, you are fueling the work that changes lives and breaks cycles of trauma. You are helping to build a supportive network that protects the most vulnerable among us.

This cause is deeply connected to the mission of every healthcare provider. We see the downstream effects of adverse childhood experiences in our patients every day.

Participating in this event allows us to step onto the front lines of prevention, addressing a root cause of many long-term health issues.

The event kicks off at 8:00 AM on the City of Isle of Palms, offering something for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.

The route itself is a major draw. Participants will travel over the iconic Isle of Palms Connector, heading into Mount Pleasant before looping back.
