The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) is asking health care professionals across the state to register for the South Carolina Health Alert Network, SCHAN.
SCHAN is a secure, web-based system DPH uses to notify providers quickly about disease clusters, outbreaks, and other events of public health significance, and to share health advisories and updates directly from the CDC and DPH. Right now, the latest advisory covers domestically acquired cyclosporiasis cases showing up in multiple U.S. states in 2026.
Enrolling means notifications land directly in your inbox instead of you having to check for them. Participants include state and local public health offices, health care providers, first responders, and other emergency preparedness and disaster response personnel across South Carolina.
If you`re a health care professional in South Carolina and you`re not already enrolled, this is worth five minutes. Registration and more information are available through DPH.
