First, huge congratulations to our society on receiving the Service to the Community Award at the recent SCMA annual meeting! I hope all mothers in our society had a wonderful Mother's Day! And if you're like me and have school-aged kids, congratulations on wrapping up another school year! This time of year is always a reminder of how quickly life moves and how important it is to stay connected- to family, to colleagues, and to our community.
I'd like to share a few upcoming opportunities and reminders on how we can continue to engage and connect.
Involving our Families: SCMA Alliance
Do you have a spouse interested in becoming more involved? I encourage you to introduce them to the SCMA Alliance, an organization of physician spouses founded in 1922 that has since grown into a nationwide volunteer organization dedicated to service, advocacy, and community. Speaking of families, we are excited to be hosting a joint social event with the SCMA Alliance on Saturday, June 20th at Crush Yard in Mt Pleasant. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about this wonderful group, connect with fellow families, and celebrate Father’s Day together. We hope you’ll join us. Use Our Platform - It's Yours
Our society is an incredible platform for amplifying the good work our members are doing. I know many of you are deeply involved in community initiatives, fundraisers, advocacy efforts, and causes you’re passionate about—and we want to help share that work. If you have:
- An upcoming event or fundraiser,
- A cause or organization you’d like to support, raising awareness for, or
- A community initiative you’d like highlighted
Please let us know. By sharing these efforts, we not only support one another—we strengthen our collective voice and impact.
Share Your Practice News
The same goes for professional milestones—if you’re opening a new practice, adding new services, moving into a new location, welcoming a new hire, winning an award, having a new side gig, etc., we want to celebrate with you! Just submit your news, and we’ll be happy to share it.
We're Looking for Speakers!
Finally, we’re looking for speakers! We know some of you are bursting at the seams with knowledge and just need a place to share it. To make our physician directory even more useful, we’re planning to add webinars or talks. If you’ve got a topic you’re passionate about and are interested in sharing, we’d love to hear from you.
