Dr. Reshma Khan is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with over 20 years of experience and a steadfast commitment to serving underserved communities across the United States. A graduate of Gandhi Medical College, she completed her OB/GYN residency at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, before building a distinguished career in private practice across Indiana and Maryland.
In 2007, Dr. Khan relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, where she joined Ralph Johnson VA Medical Center as a staff physician — a role she held for eight years. During that time, she channeled her passion for community health into founding the Shifa Free Clinic in Charleston through ICNA Relief USA, providing vital healthcare access to those who need it most.
Today, Dr. Khan serves as the National Director of Health Services for ICNA Relief USA, where she leads with the conviction that the organization has a responsibility to strengthen society through togetherness, respect for diversity, and compassion. In that role, she spearheaded a national COVID-19 vaccination outreach and education campaign targeting immigrant and underserved populations — an initiative that reached over 700,000 individuals and fostered key partnerships to meaningfully increase vaccination rates.
Beyond her clinical and organizational work, Dr. Khan is a respected voice in Charleston’s interfaith community. She has been an invited speaker at local churches, the College of Charleston, 9/11 memorial services, and national events including the Women’s March on Washington. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the Sisters of Charity Foundation and has been recognized for her impact through features in local media and television. She was honored as an Everyday Hero by Count 2 News.
Dr. Khan is currently affiliated with HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital and practices in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
