As we bid farewell to the first month of 2024, I trust you’ve had a joyful and safe start to the New Year, filled with joyous moments and connection with your loved ones. Here’s to hoping the year is brimming with exciting possibilities and memorable experiences for you and your family.

Thank you to all CCMS members and sponsors, the SCMA, and Dr. Gerry Harmon for attending the 2023 Annual Meeting.  We also enjoyed spending time with you at the January Medical Mingle and look forward to more in 2024.  Stay tuned for upcoming member events throughout the year.

As we transition into February, we eagerly anticipate the arrival of three significant observances – American Heart Month, Black History Month, and National Cancer Prevention Month. These upcoming celebrations allow us to highlight important health, culture, and heritage aspects.

  • American Heart Month encourages us to focus on cardiovascular health, emphasizing the importance of cultivating heart-healthy habits.  It’s a chance to raise awareness, promote healthy living, and share valuable insights on maintaining optimal heart well-being.  We all can prioritize heart health, beginning with simple yet effective choices in our daily lives.  Consider incorporating more movement into your day – whether it’s a brisk walk, a quick workout, or even stretching exercises. Small steps like these contribute to an active lifestyle, positively influencing heart health.  Moreover, your food choices play a vital role.  Opt for heart-healthy foods that nourish your body and support cardiovascular well-being.
  • Simultaneously, Black History Month is a time to honor and celebrate the rich contributions and achievements of the Black community throughout history.  It’s an occasion to recognize and appreciate the diverse narratives that have shaped our world, fostering understanding and unity.
  • National Cancer Awareness Month serves as a poignant reminder of the widespread impact of cancer on individuals, families, and communities around the world.  This month, our focus is on raising awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and the ongoing battle against this formidable adversary.  Together, let’s shine a light on the importance of regular screenings, healthy lifestyle choices, and advancements in cancer research.

We encourage you to participate in meaningful observances.  I wish you a vibrant and fulfilling February ahead!

I appreciate your dedication to the CCMS.  Please reach out to us if you need anything.  Many thanks to our Administrators, Tracey Waring and Tom Steenhuysen, who work hard behind the scenes.
