Introducing DrConnectCHS: A New Way for Charleston Physicians to Connect

Medicine can feel isolating, even in a city full of colleagues. Finding the right person to ask about a new EHR system, a job opening, or a referral contact often means a lot of phone calls and word of mouth.

That is why the Charleston County Medical Society (CCMS) is launching DrConnectCHS, a new online forum designed to make connecting with your peers easier. It is a place to ask questions, share ideas, and build your professional network right here in the Charleston area.

What Is DrConnectCHS?

DrConnectCHS works a lot like a traditional LISTSERV. A member sends an email to one shared address, and that message goes out to everyone in the group. You can reply to the whole group or just to the sender, depending on what makes sense.

The forum is open only to CCMS members, and you need to opt in to be included. There is no special login to remember. If you can send an email, you can take part.

What Can You Use DrConnectCHS For?

The forum is built for the everyday conversations that help physicians and practices run well. Here are some of the ways members can use it:

• Professional announcements: Share meetings, conferences, CME opportunities, and workshops.
• Career opportunities: Post job openings, moonlighting opportunities, fellowship positions, and leadership roles.
• Networking: Connect with colleagues in other specialties or practices.
• Clinical resources: Pass along journal articles, guidelines, new research, and educational materials.
• Professional advice: Ask colleagues about general practice questions, like “What EHR system are you using?” or “Has anyone used this type of equipment?”
• Community resources: Spread the word about health fairs, volunteer opportunities, and community wellness programs.
• Practice management: Talk through administrative topics like billing trends, staffing, scheduling systems, and office technology.
• Medical student and physician interaction: Give students a place to ask about specialties, residency, career paths, work-life balance, and the transition into practice.

An Important Reminder About Patient Privacy

DrConnectCHS is not the place to discuss identifiable patient cases, diagnoses, medical records, or any other HIPAA protected health information. Keep conversations focused on general questions and professional topics so the forum stays a safe, useful space for everyone.
