Fiona Rahbar, MD

Dr. Rahbar, a board-certified dermatologist and co-founder of Mara Dermatology, is known for her thoughtful, whole-person approach to skin health. She earned her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology through studies at the University of Pennsylvania and Emory University, before receiving her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Dr. Rahbar completed her dermatology residency at the University of Virginia, where she served as Chief Resident.

Following her training, Dr. Rahbar gained clinical experience in Virginia and New York City before planting roots in South Carolina. She cared for patients in private practice and then in academic medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina for years before starting Mara Dermatology.

A passionate advocate for accessible care, Dr. Rahbar has volunteered internationally in Haiti and Uganda. Locally, she volunteers regularly at the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, where she serves uninsured and underinsured patients. Her proficiency in Spanish allows her to help serve the Charleston area’s Hispanic population.

Dr. Rahbar has contributed to medical journals, presented at national dermatology conferences, and is a graduate of the Integrative Dermatology Certificate Program, where she now serves as both a lecturer and facilitator. Her holistic philosophy emphasizes treating the whole patient, not just their symptoms or disease.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, including her two daughters and their dog, Luna. A certified yoga instructor and lifelong nature lover, she also strongly advocates for environmental conservation. Dr. Rahbar is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology.
